Human geography

Human geography is an important field of studies today, especially after the emergence of global theoretical perspectives, which require the study of migratory flows, dynamics of international trade and other complex human processes, involving states, cultures and individuals. The first four—economic, social, cultural, and political—reflect both the main areas of contemporary life and the social science disciplines with which geographers interact (i.e., economics , sociology , anthropology , and political science and international relations , respectively); the fifth is historical geography . Human geography is more allied with the social sciences and humanities, sharing their philosophical approaches and methods (see physical geography for a discussion on the relationship between human and physical geography; environmental geography). Human geography consists of a number of sub-disciplinary fields that focus on different elements of human activity and organization, for example, cultural geography, economic geography, health geography, historical geography, political geography, Human Geography. Geography studies the relationships between physical environments and human societies. Many of the most complex global challenges facing humanity – including migration, urbanisation, ageing, socio-economic inequality, and climate change – result from changing human-environment relations, but Geography is the only core academic discipline that treats them in an integrated, interdisciplinary way.
